Additives

!

Catalyst (MEKP)
All resin and top coat products require catalyst to cure from a liquid into a solid. Catalyst is normally added at 1% to 4%

Accelerator
All our resins and top coats are supplied with cobalt accelerator already added. Small amounts of accelerator (i.e. approximately 0.5 percent) can be added to pre accelerated products to speed up the cure time. Always mix the accelerator thoroughly into the resin BEFORE the catalyst

Wax solution
The addition of wax solution (at approximately 2 percent) effectively turns gel coat into top coat. The wax eliminates the surface tackiness of gel coats and resins when required as a final coating. Top coats have the wax already added and should only normally be used as the final coat.

Styrene
Used to thin resin and top coat. Resin already contains approximately 35% styrene. For thinning do not use more than 10% addition as this will degrade the resin.
