New - SKIRTING.
Architects, builders, homeowners, and designers have this year created a new form of fashion with construction and building design now focusing on colour, and the colour this year is anthracite grey 7016, a dark grey range of modern skirting boards and architraves that has increased the sales of just about every building product that comes in grey. New for 2019, dark grey anthracite skirting and a matching 70mm door architrave.
How do you fit a plastic skirting board?
Cut the boards to size with any fine-toothed hand saw. Glue the boards to the wall with solvent-free glue, cut mitres for the corners and hold the mitres together by using super glue with an activator. Double-sided glazing tapes can help flat surfaces to keep the boards tight to the wall whilst the adhesive sets.
Curved bays, very popular in construction from the 1970s to 1980s, have always created a building problem with difficulty getting a traditional timber or MDF skirting board around the curve. Plastic skirting is often used to form curves around bay windows. The flexibility of the boards makes fitting reasonably easy. Weights are needed to hold the board in place while fixing the adhesive sets. Ogee architraves are also available.
GUARANTEE.
Being used internally, you don't have much to worry about, as these boards are at a specification level for products used outside; however, if you are interested, there is a 10-year manufacturer's guarantee.
FIRE RATING.
PVC has a Class 1 fire rating by BS 476, giving this material an advantage over traditional timber. PVC is not readily ignitable, does not encourage the spread of flames and outperforms standard untreated wood in a fire situation.
Please note that PVC-looking products do not have the same rating.
Delivery
Most standard colours are in stock and available for delivery within a few days; unique foiled colours will take two to three weeks, depending on the time of the year.
