Polycarbonate Roofing Sheets for Domestic and Commercial Projects

Polycarbonate is a practical alternative to traditional glass roofing. It allows natural light into the space while remaining significantly lighter and highly resistant to impact. This makes it easier to handle and suitable for projects where strength, weather resistance and straightforward installation are important.

Our range covers small garden projects as well as larger domestic and commercial roofs. Different structures, thicknesses and finishes are available to provide the right balance of light transmission, insulation, rigidity and cost.

Types of Polycarbonate Roofing Sheets

Twinwall Lightweight and economical
Multiwall Improved insulation and strength
Corrugated Profiled for easy water runoff
Solid Sheet Clear, strong and glass-like

Twinwall sheets are commonly used for lighter DIY roofs and sheltered structures. Multiwall sheets contain additional internal layers, increasing stiffness and insulation for conservatories, carports and larger spans. Corrugated sheets suit simple agricultural, garden and canopy applications, while solid polycarbonate provides a smooth clear appearance with exceptional impact resistance.

Trade and DIY Supply

Builders, roofers, installers and DIY customers can order sheets and the required accessories together. Our team can help with sheet thickness, glazing bar compatibility and the components normally needed to finish the roof.

Local and Nationwide Service

Collect roofing sheets and accessories from our Bristol premises or arrange nationwide delivery. This makes our range suitable for local projects as well as customers and trade accounts throughout the UK.

Why Choose Polycarbonate Roofing?

Polycarbonate combines high impact strength with low weight, helping make roof panels easier to move, cut and fit than glass. UV-protected roofing sheets are designed for long-term outdoor exposure and are available in clear, bronze, opal and other finishes to control brightness, privacy and heat build-up.

Clear sheets provide the highest light transmission, while bronze and opal options soften glare and can make covered areas more comfortable. Thicker multiwall products also create insulating air pockets within the sheet, helping improve thermal performance.

Complete your roof with compatible glazing bars, end closures, breather tape, aluminium tape, fixings and finishing trims available from the same supplier.

Popular Applications

Polycarbonate roofing sheets are suitable for conservatories, lean-to roofs, pergolas, patio covers, carports, entrance canopies, greenhouses, garden buildings, covered storage areas and commercial roof glazing.

Choosing the correct thickness and support spacing is important. A small pergola may only require a lightweight sheet, while a conservatory or wider roof span normally benefits from a thicker multiwall product with greater rigidity and insulation.

Polycarbonate Roofing Sheet FAQs

Are polycarbonate roofing sheets strong?

Yes. Polycarbonate is highly impact-resistant and much less likely to shatter than glass, making it well suited to exposed outdoor roofing applications.

Do polycarbonate sheets let natural light through?

Yes. Clear sheets provide excellent light transmission, while bronze and opal sheets reduce glare and change the amount and quality of light entering the space.

What thickness should I choose?

Common roofing thicknesses include 10mm, 16mm and 25mm. Thicker sheets generally offer greater insulation and rigidity, but the correct choice also depends on the span and supporting glazing system.

Can polycarbonate sheets be cut to size?

Polycarbonate can be cut using suitable tools and careful preparation. Contact us with the required measurements to discuss available sheet sizes and cutting options.

Which side of the sheet faces upwards?

The UV-protected side must face towards the outside. Protective film and product markings normally identify the correct side, and the film should remain in place until fitting is nearly complete.
